After completing his PhD in health research methodology at McMaster University, Dr. DiDiodato has been supporting his community hospital-based peers to pursue their research interests. His expertise in research methodology and biostatistics has promoted the widespread uptake of locally relevant applied healthcare research. Dr. DiDiodato has been active across the province in promoting the value of community hospital-based research, and being a strong advocate for funding support for community hospital-based researchers. As a co-principal investigator of the ASKmeGOC study, he is part of a community-based research group that has just completed the largest ever randomized trial in a Canadian community hospital, enrolling approximately 1900 patients. Looking forward, Dr. DiDiodato is excited to translate the success and findings of the ASKmeGOC study to other hospitals, primary care practices and assisted living facilities with the hope of ensuring patient autonomy and eliminating low-value care.
