Dr. Chris Martin

Critical Care Physician

Dr. Chris Martin is an intensive care physician with 13 years of experience and currently serves as the Chief and Medical Director of Critical Care at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre. Prior to relocating to Barrie, he completed his residency in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care at the University of Western Ontario. In addition to his role in the intensive care unit, Dr. Martin works as a transport medicine physician with Ornge Air Ambulance. He is also passionate about education and holds the position of Director of Medical Education at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.

In his practice of Critical Care Medicine, Dr. Martin collaborates with an exceptional multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide care for the region's most critically ill patients, striving to change their illness trajectory towards recovery. When recovery is not possible, he takes pride in offering compassion and comfort to patients and their loved ones. Dr. Martin believes in delivering appropriate care in the right place and at the right time. He is dedicated to the mission of ASKmeGOC, which seeks to make appropriate care a reality by ensuring that treatment plans not only are effective but also reflect the patient’s personal values and goals. He believes that only through a guided discussion—like the one ASKmeGOC enables—can treatment plans truly connect with and support informed patients.
